Carole's biography

The Painted Word

Carole Harrison was born in Denver, Colorado and  lived most of her youth in Frisco and Glenwood Springs,Colorado in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.  She has always been facinated with the expression of art.  Her first memorable experience of art occured when she was only seven years old, as she observed her older sister drawing.  Her sister asked her to participate as a model and so she posed as her sister drew her portrait.  And from that moment on, she knew that she wanted to be an artist.  As a child she played in the forest behind the Blue Spruce Inn, a restaurant her family owned in Frisco, she found herself surrounded by a mystical world filled with wonder and mystery.

This is that quality that comes through her art; "What great adventure is in there, just waiting for me to enter? If I observe closely, I might just get a glimpse of it."  Her art has evolved over the years, as she has experienced creating her art in many different mediums and subjects, but the same feeling of curosity, peace and silence are a universal thread that connect all of her works.

She continued on in that vein of inspiration coming to her through many artists and their gifts of self expression.  Carole is mostly a self taught artist, however she draws on the gifts of other artists that speak to her directly in communion with her soul.

She has taken the truthful expression she sees and blends it into each stroke,as she searches within her own unique self expression of truth.  The teachers on her path have taught her how to find the immeasurable that comes from within the spirit.

For Carole, color on the canvas expresses the light one can find, if one dares to look within!  She has throughout her years sought out to learn of this truth, in the gifted words and works published by their authors.  I BE NOW!   This she has learned, is the eternal portrait,  The perfect illusion!

Carole has studied under Don Cohen at Red Rocks University, Chuck Ceraso at Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Steve Tracy at Foothills Art Center and has taken several art workshops including Jerry Yarnell fine art.  She has been juried into numerous shows and galleries and had her own private showings.  Her work is in many collections in the USA.
