What is constant in art

Serenity by C. Harrison

"What is constant in art is the artist's description of himself and his
environment.  All that changes comes under the idea of form. It
represents what one grasps of the new and hurls it into the past.
Significant form is what lies outside the periphery of the known.  An
imaginative act is that which is capable of extending the periphery of the known till it
includes the intuitively felt object that lies outside it."
