Magic in art

Harmony by C. Harrison
" Art is the articulation of Man's intellectual, spiritual, emotional and aesthetic impulses in relation to life, as experience.  I paint not what I see, but what I feel, not what I think, but rather what I am.  It is not for art to hold a mirror to nature(to freeze a moment out of time) but rather to capture an impulse and sustain it into all eternity.
The dimension that lies beyond the measurable pictorial, is perhaps the all important one.  There is for me, a "magic" in art, a strange, deeply moving force which makes itself felt but cannot be analyzed.  It is in Beethoven and Brahms, in El Greco and Rembrandt--and in the great cathedrals of Europe.  I do believe, that in the final analysis, it is this dimension that constitutes for us our criterion of judgement."              Samuel M. Adler

Being Purified by C. Harrison
"Art is not just a language.  It is more a process of osmosis of the tangible inner feelings of the artist to the inner feelings of the observer.  It is the most direct means of communication of the hopes, ideals and dignity of mankind.  Giotto, Piero della Francesca, Uccello,Brueghel,Cezanne,Seurat and others are reassuring lights in the darkness of the wilderness."        Michael Frary

"Painting is subject to human and not scientific laws, and art is not a great highway leading to utopias of style but rather documents of the most human need to contact other human beings in a way that is unique to art."

Inspiration of other artists through their words

I am truly inspired by the words of other artists, they say what I feel and cannot put into words.  I want to share some of these words of artists with you.

"There are idea painters and there are those who think and feel in paint....what intrigues and engages me is to captivate the sensual within a pointed aesthetic...two contrary elements, one to excite and the other to cool. The duality releases the need for thinking and feeling."    Paul Burlin
