 The dimension that lies beyond the measurable pictorial, is perhaps the all important one.  There is for me, a "magic" in art, a strange, deeply moving force which makes itself felt but cannot be analyzed.  It is in Beethoven and Brahms, in El Greco and Rembrandt--and in the great cathedrals of Europe.  I do believe, that in the final analysis, it is this dimension that constitutes for us our criterion of judgement."              Samuel M.
